For the lovers of fine French and Italian antiques, Estudio Restauración is a charming find; located in the centre of Barcelona, tucked away in the suburb of Gracia just behind Avinguda Diagonal, it showcases a small, but well chosen collection.
Helena Egea and Mavi García-Nieto had long been working as restorers for themselves and others, before opening Estudio Restauración in November, 2003.
The collection of furniture beautifully set against a background wall colour of ‘greenery’ is personally chosen and restored, “always respecting their original uses and patinas”. Upholstered furniture has been restored up to the point where it is awaiting ‘an individual touch’ to be covered in a fabric specially chosen by you, or perhaps you will follow the ‘current trend’ and not have it covered at all.
As well as antiques there are a few vintage pieces interspersed. The collection includes; furniture and objects from the eighteenth to the twentieth century, industrial pieces, garden furniture, decorative lighting, baroque tableware and neoclassical mirrors, all of which are awaiting another ‘chance’.

As you know, I love recycling and it warms my heart to see people’s imagination and the transformation of old things. Delightful.
Knowing that I soon will be able to see things like this in real life, I get quite excited!
